Poetry Shooting Club offering discounts for LSON readers

Poetry Shooting Club is a family style private shooting club open daily and located 35 miles east of Dallas, 8 miles north of Terrell in the community of Poetry, Texas.
Poetry Shooting Club was started as a Private Bird Hunting Area for bird dog training and a Quail Hunting Preserve in the spring of 2011. Quail hunting is offered for self-guided and guided hunts for friends, family and business contacts in or out of season and without limits. Bird dog owners are catered to with training fields and flighty quail and instruction is offered if needed with remote controlled bird launchers.
The club now offers a pistol range to 100 yards and a rifle range to 700 yards. Use is always by appointment and we only book one group at a time so you get private use and run of the range. We offer a big bore and large caliber rifle and pistol area and an indoor reloading location. Manager Walter Patton is a new member of and advertiser with Dallas Safari Club.
The club has a small archery area, a shaded rimfire wheel chair-accessible shooting lane to 100 yards, a clay pigeon thrower, and has day lease hunting guided and unguided in season for dove, duck, goose, deer and pigs.
Their motto is “Take a youth shooting to build boldness and confidence in their future.”
The location has been a family and friends of family shooting venue for more than fifty five years. Walter Patton and wife Grace live on site and manage the club. There is a classroom for instructional purposes. Classes are offered on an as needed basis for CHL licensing, pistol and rifle introduction, firearm safety and skeet shooting. Annual membership is $15 and free for under 16, seniors over 65, military and disabled.
Membership allows for many different family uses from private countryside exercise walking, overnight camping, catch and release pond fishing, squirrel and rabbit chasing and camp fire building. The location is also available for family or company party venues. Private quail hunts can be arranged on members property and manager Walter with his three bird dogs does upland bird hunting guide services when time allows.

Poetry Shooting Club Family Style Shooting Close to Dallas
New range now open to 700 yards
Poetry Shooting Club going into its second season has expanded its services and now as a shooting range out to 700 yards with berms every 100 yards and a nice large pistol berm with up to 100 yards of distance. The range is ready for use for one shooter or group of shooters known to each other and they get run of the range. We think you will enjoy the slower pace and having the range to yourself and friends. Instructors of all disciplines are welcome and we have a nice class room also. Hunting season is coming and the best shooters shoot a lot. Youth shooters, 16 and under shoot free with paid adult. Bring the family for free catch and release pond fishing while you shoot. Archery area also available.
The range is Ma & Pa family style in concept meaning we will not have crowds, competitions, 50 calibers, rapid fire, or steel targets. Just old fashion precision and educational shooting with paper targets, and for instant gratification we will use balloons, china plates and clay pigeons. Appointment is needed for proper scheduling always. We offer reasonable rates and easy access.

We do several other things in addition to range shooting so scheduling in advance becomes important. We specialize in being a Quail Hunting Preserve catering to the bird dog owners who need a place to train. The club is licensed by the State of Texas as a Private Bird Hunting Area and as a Game Bird Breeder which allows the club to have guided and unguided quail hunts any time of year and for the use of flighty quail and pigeons. Praying for rains we have built a technical island in our large pond for gun dog retriever work.
Also offered are day hunting leases for dove, ducks and bow hunting of Whitetail deer. We have an automatic clay pigeon thrower for family style skeet shooting. Instruction available for all shooting disciplines and Instructors are invited to see our class room available for this new season.
